"Hellcats" centers on a college girl from the wrong side of the tracks (Michalka) who, after losing her scholarship because of budget cutbacks and her mother's (Gail O'Grady) chronic irresponsibility, joins the Hellcats, the college's competitive cheerleading team.

No More Hollywood Records

Some of you may know already, but for those of you who don't, 78violet is no longer with Hollywood Records. They got out of their contract due to some issues they have not explained to us. Amanda says that they did have some artistic freedom, but the style and limitations of their contract bothered them enough to leave. Their third album they recorded with HR will most likely NOT be sent out. 2010 is the third year they haven't had an album, and we'll most likely be waiting a full five years before we have new music from them. I'm looking forward to that, when it does arrive, and I wish them the best of luck, as I'm sure we all do, for their future music!

Hey guys…so we know it’s been quiet in the 78violet camp but we want to first off thank you for sticking with us. We have some big news and wanted to make sure you hear it first.
Now that it’s official, we can tell you we’re no longer a part of Hollywood Records. What does that mean exactly??? Now we have the freedom to take 78violet in the direction we want. We’re writing and recording new music and are really excited on what’s next.
So…what is next? As for the album we recorded for Hollywood, honestly, we don’t foresee it ever being released. But…we are continuing to write and record new songs that we hope you’ll love as much as we do.
We’re going to be taking the Aly & AJ website down in the meantime which means the current message board will be removed and the accounts you created on the site will be put on hold. Yes…major bummer. But we’ll have a new message board and a new temporary site up in a few days that will serve as our main communication with you for the time being.

Aly and AJ are among several celebrities who are taking apart of the Secret Diary Auction, in which Black Box Innovations will be auctioning off their autographed Secret Diary!
How awesome is that? For anyone who's as unfamiliar with Secret Diary as I am (I mean, until I read this. :P), here's a little bit about them.

'The Lovely Bones' in theatres now

Alyson's sister Amanda is featured in the movie The Lovely Bones, which opened in theatres this past Friday. Both girls request that you go see the movie. I'm going, hopefully, in the next few weeks.
If you haven't heard of The Lovely Bones, it's based on the book by Alice Sebold. You can read all about the movie here and watch the trailer for it here.

Aly Michalka takes a whiff of the new D&G fragrance during the 2009 Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party held at MILK Studios in Los Angeles on Friday night (September 25). The 20-year-old Bandslam beauty isn't a fan of the California heat right now. She tweeted, "Why is it so freakin hot out!!!!I want Fall to be here already:( then I can put the air conditioning on and light the fireplace." Aly's singing sister, AJ, is across the country in Georgia visiting friends.
