Aly Michalka Has “Fearlessness” for ‘Hellcats’

Former Disney star Aly Michalka has been popping up everywhere lately and has now stuck her landing in the hit CW show, Hellcats! But, just like her sister AJ Michalka, Aly has also been hard at work on her film career as well as music.
Aly not only is working on her new album with AJ for 78violet, but can also be seen in theaters in Easy A with Emma Stone and on TV in Hellcats with Ashley Tisdale.
“It takes a certain amount of focus and fearlessness to be involved in that sport,” 21-year-old Aly told Entertainment Tonight.
Aly didn’t have any formal training as a cheerleader, but her mother did cheer for the Rams, Raiders and UCLA “so I definitely have some legit blood in me.”
Even though Aly is conquering her fears in Hellcats, she doesn’t have any rivalry with her sister AJ who can be seen on the big screen in Secretariat.
“We go out for the same parts every once in awhile, and that we kind of laugh about because we’re completely different people,” Aly explained. “Even if [one of us did land it], I think we would be super supportive of each other, because if I want anybody else to book a role that’s not me, I want it to be AJ.”
Alyson Michalka and Hellcats are causing quite a stir. Michalka anchors the CW’s new drama that simultaneously speaks to our times and delivers pure unadulterated entertainment each Wednesday night.

Several episodes in, Hellcats is raising hell-fire including raves for its star, Alyson Michalka, and High School Musical veteran Ashley Tisdale.
Hellcats’ season premiere scored the highest ratings the CW has seen since Gossip Girl debuted in 2007. Amidst the Hellcats debut and Michalka’s performance in another fall hit, Emma Stone’s movie hit Easy A, the actress is having a sensational season.

SheKnows: So how are things going on the Hellcats set?
Alyson Michalka: We’re having so much fun. I have to say, we all get along so well as a cast. We really enjoy each other’s company. This is quite an adventure for all of us.
SheKnows: What first appealed to you about the show Hellcats that you had to be a part of it?
Alyson Michalka: I loved that the show showed a lot of heart. It’s one of those shows that really kind of puts a focus on not only the competitive aspect of the cheerleading world, but it really opens up this world to be able to know these characters and feel for them on a very personal level. Aly & AJ are A-OK after a stalker scare at their SoCal spread.
A California man named Caesar Brantley was arrested for trying to sneak into the gated community where Aly and AJ Michalka live, according to a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Police took Caesar Brantley into custody after security guards caught him milling about near the sisters' Calabasas home in violation of a restraining order the Disney Channel's sibling pop stars had taken out against him. He was charged with a misdemeanor for disobeying that court order and felony stalking.
It's unclear whether the pair were at home at the time of the incident, but Brantley didn't get into their residence.
This isn't the first time the twosome have had to deal with a potential stalker. In June 2008, an Ohio man was busted for bombarding the tween stars with phone calls, letters and emails, along with online threats.
Aly, 21, and AJ, 19, hail from nearby the L.A. suburb of Torrance. Their TV credits include Phil of the Future, Cow Belles and Super Sweet 16: The Movie. They also found chart success under their Aly & AJ moniker, with their 2005 debut album, Into the Rush, going platinum. Last year, they changed their name to 78Violet to aim for a more pop-rock sound.
